At this annual event, donors and their scholarship recipients have the opportunity to meet. Scholarship recipients share their appreciation with donors, and talk more about their plans for the future.
In many cases, scholarships can be a deciding factor in a student’s ability to attend college. Donors are able to understand the difference they’ve made, and how their contributions change lives.
This event is held every October, and recipients and donors are strongly encouraged to attend. The 2016 Dinner was Wednesday, Oct. 12 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Kankakee.
Partnership and Visionary Awards
In addition to students and donors meeting, two special awards are presented at this event:
KCC Foundation Partnership Award – This award recognizes corporate leaders who have provided financial support to the college and who have been diverse in their commitment, often supporting multiple initiatives. The 2015 KCC Foundation Partnership Award recipient was the KCC Foundation Women’s Giving Circle Council, which was created to help with retention and completion. Educate, Empower and Endeavor is an initiative created by the KCC Foundation guided by the Women’s Giving Circle Council. This initiative was designed to assist second year students at risk of dropping out/failing to complete due to unexpected financial emergencies.
KCC Visionary Award – This award honors an unsung supporter who lays the groundwork for future success of the KCC Foundation and KCC through their commitment. This award recognizes both financial contributions and volunteerism. The 2015 KCC Visionary Award recipients were Dr. Ivan and Mrs. Rochelle Meyer. The Meyers established the Rochelle and Ivan Meyer fund for Cultural Diversity. Dr. Meyer is also a KCC Foundation Board Member.
