KCC/GSU Dual Degree Program

The partnership between KCC and Governors State University enables full-time students to earn a competitive, affordable bachelor's degree by enrolling in either Dual Degree Program I or Dual Degree Program II. The program is chosen based on the number of earned credit hours.

Benefits - Dual Degree Program I

For students with 12-30 earned credit hours:

  • Academic advising from both institutions to complete an associate's and a bachelor's degree in a minimum number of semesters/terms
  • GSU Guaranteed Tuition Plan for Illinois residents locks the GSU tuition rate for up to four years from date of enrollment in the Dual Degree Program (restrictions apply)
  • Opportunity to compete for the GSU Debt Free Promise scholarship and other transfer scholarships (if eligible)
  • Opportunity to participate in social and cultural activities at both institutions

Benefits - Dual Degree Program II

For students with 31-45 earned credit hours:

  • Academic advising from both institutions to complete an associate's and a bachelor's degree in a minimum number of semesters/terms
  • GSU Guaranteed Tuition Plan for Illinois residents locks the GSU tuition rate for up to four years from date of enrollment in the Dual Degree Program (restrictions apply)
  • Opportunity to apply for GSU transfer scholarships (if eligible)
  • Opportunity to participate in social and cultural activities at both institutions

How to apply

Full-time KCC students who meet eligibility requirements may apply for enrollment in the program.

  • Complete the GSU Dual Degree application with your KCC advisor
  • KCC's Transfer Coordinator will submit it to GSU
  • A GSU representative will contact you

Your KCC and GSU advisors will follow an academic plan to help you complete your associate's and bachelor's degrees in a minimum number of semesters. Once you earn your associate degree, you can transfer to GSU to complete your bachelor's degree within two years--seamlessly.

The GSU Guaranteed Tuition Plan for full-time students allows Illinois residents to lock in the GSU tuition rate from the date of enrollment in the Dual Degree Program (restrictions apply). This plan may save thousands of dollars in tuition as you earn your bachelor's degree at GSU.

The GSU Debt Free Promise program allows qualified scholarship recipients to complete a bachelor's degree at GSU without tuition debt.
