General
KCC has an open admission policy – all students are accepted for general admission. Although an official high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate is not required for admission, it is required to be eligible for financial aid. Most students will be required to take an assessment test so classes can be selected which maximize their chance for success. Selective admission programs have additional enrollment requirements.
The Nelnet payment plan is available upon request. It is not available during late registration.
To have your ACT scores on file at KCC, have a copy sent directly from ACT to KCC’s Office of Admissions and Registration. The ACT code for KCC is 010530.
High school equivalency preparation classes are available to anyone over age 16 without a high school diploma or GED.
The online application should be submitted several weeks prior to the semester that you plan to attend. Applying later may delay your enrollment and limit your course selection. Please note that Health Careers programs have limited enrollments and individual application deadlines.
Registration for fall classes begins the preceding April; registration for spring classes begins the preceding October; and registration for summer classes begins the preceding March. See the current class schedule and payment deadlines for important due dates. Tuition and fees are paid in the Accounting Office, which is around the corner from the registration counter. Cash, checks, Visa®, MasterCard® and Discover® are accepted.
Transfer students from other colleges/universities: Submit a written request to the Office of Admissions and Registration to have your transfer credits evaluated for the appropriate academic program/curriculum. Because this evaluation takes additional time during the registration process, request a transfer credit evaluation as early as possible.
Locations
In-person registration is accepted in Student Services on the second floor of the Workforce Development Center on River Road (map) and at the KCC South Extension Center in Watseka (map). Online registration for qualified returning students is done through Student Self-Service.
New students
Students enrolling in their first semester at KCC are required to meet with an advisor to enroll. An appointment is required – phone 815-802-8500 or email advising@kcc.edu.
New students should request an official high school transcript (mailed directly from the school or hand delivered in the original sealed envelope) be sent to KCC. To qualify for financial aid or have credit evaluated/awarded from other colleges, also request official transcripts from all colleges previously attended.
All new students should take the Accuplacer placement test or submit official ACT scores (four year limit) before meeting with an advisor to plan first semester classes. Placement scores are used to help determine a student’s schedule.
Payment
To complete registration, and guarantee enrollment, pay for classes following KCC’s payment policies.

The last date to withdraw depends on the length of the course and circumstances of the withdrawal. Your registration statement lists the last date to withdraw from each course resulting in a grade of W.
